HL2 has that solid ground of super-strong gameplay. Alyx, as others have said, leans more into the VR experience side, less on the gameplay mechanics themselves - meaning it ends up much less replayable. And maybe that's OK, if Valve just wanted a proof of concept - and a future title can take all this on board.

It's a full featured game with a campaign ~15h. There are couple of games at full length by now: Boneworks 10h+, TWD 10h+ for example. If you own oculus you have easy access to even more games, asgard's wrath which is 20-30h and a bunch more, I just don't know the exact length of those games from the top of my head.
